Ardstraw is about 10 miles from Londonderry.4 He emigrated about 1714 from Glasgow, Scotland.4 In June 1720 in Rutland, Worcester County, Massachusetts, James married Elizabeth Davis.1 James Browning was appointed in 1722 in Rutland, Worcester County, Massachusetts, as a Tithingman.4 He and Elizabeth Davis joined the church on 21 May 1728 in Rutland, Worcester County, Massachusetts; having brought letters testimonial from their church in Ireland.5,4 James Browning died on Monday, 3 February 1749 in Rutland, Worcester County, Massachusetts, at age 77 years.6,3,1,5 James's gravestone inscription in Rutland, Worcester County, Massachusetts, reads:
