Jonas Fairbanks was baptized on 6 March 1625 in Warley, Halifax Parish, Yorkshire, England.1 He was the son of Jonathan Fairbanks and Grace Smith.1,2 Jonas Fairbanks emigrated with Jonathan Fairbanks and Grace Smith in 1633 from Sowerby, Halifax Parish, Yorkshire, England.2,3 In 1652, he was fined for violating the Statutes of 1651, by wearing great boots, while not being worth £200.2 Jonas Fairbanks moved in 1657 to Lancaster, Worcester County, Massachusetts.2 He was a farmer and possibly a carpenter as well in October 1657.2 On 28 May 1658 in Lancaster, Worcester County, Massachusetts, Jonas married Lydia Prescott, daughter of John Prescott and Mary Platts. Their marriage date was recorded as 28 (3) 1658.4,1,5,6,2 On 7 March 1659, he was one of the signers of the Covenant establishing the town of Lancaster.2 On 1 June 1668 in Dedham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, Jonas Fairbanks was mentioned in the will of Jonathan Fairbanks.1,7 Jonas Fairbanks died on Monday, 10 February 1676 in Lancaster, Worcester County, Massachusetts, at age 50 years, 11 months and 4 days killed by Indians.1,2
