     Fernando III "the Saint" King of Castile and Léon was born in 1191.3 He was born between July 1201 and August 1201 in Castile, Spain.1 He was the son of Alfonso IX "ed Barboro" King of Léon and Berengaria of Castile.1,2 Fernando III "the Saint" King of Castile and Léon was crowned King of Castile in 1217.3 He was crowned King of Leon in 1230.3 In 1237 in Burgos, Spain, Fernando married second Jeanne de Dammartin Countess of Ponthieu, daughter of Simon II de Dammartin Count of Dammartin, Aumale, Ponthieu, and Montreuil and Marie of Ponthieu Countess of Ponthieu and Montreuil.3,1,2 Fernando III "the Saint" King of Castile and Léon died on Friday, 30 May 1253 in Seville, Spain.3,1,2 In 1671, he was canonized by Pope Clement X.1
