     Alfonso VII King of Castile and Léon was born on 1 March 1105 in Castile, Spain.1,2 He was the son of Raymond of Burgundy and Ivrea Count of Castile, Galicia, Coimbra, and d'Amous and Urraca Infanta of Castile and Leon, Countess of Galicia.1,2 Alfonso VII King of Castile and Léon was crowned King of Spain, though he styled himself as Emeror in 1126.2 In November 1128 in Saldana, Spain, Alfonso married first Berengaria of Barcelona, daughter of Raymond Berenger III "el Grande" Marquis of Barcelona and Count of Provence and Dulce di Gievaudun.2 In July 1152 Alfonso married first Richilde of Poland Queen of Castile and Léon, daughter of Wladislaw II King of Poland and Agnes de Babenberg.1,2,3 Alfonso VII King of Castile and Léon died on Wednesday, 21 August 1157 in Fresneda, Spain, at age 52 years, 5 months and 20 days.1,2,3 He was buried in Cathedral of Santa Maria, Toledo, Spain.2
