Fernando I "the Great" King of Castile and Leon was born between 1016 and 1018 in Spain.1 He was the son of Sancho Garcia III "the Great" King of Navarre, Count of Castile and Aragon and Munia Mayor.1 Between November 1032 and December 1032 Fernando married Sancha, daughter of Alfonso V King of Castile and Leon and Elvira Meneddez.1 Fernando I "the Great" King of Castile and Leon was crowned King of Castile in 1035.1 He was crowned King of Leon in 1037.1 He died on Wednesday, 27 December 1065 in Leon, Spain.1 He was buried in St. Isidoro, Leon, Spain.1
