Sewell gives his birth as in 788.1,2 He was the son of Ivar Oplaendinge Jarl of Uplanders of Norway and unknown of Throndheim.1,2 Eystein Ivarsson Jarl of Hedemarken was also known as Eystein "the Noisy" Glumra. He became Jarl of Hedemarken of the Uplands about 830.1 In 846 Eystein married Aseda Rognvaldsdotter, daughter of Rognvald Olafsson and Tora Sigurdsdottir.3
