George Harding
     George Harding was born on 17 December 1837 in Barre, Worcester County, Massachusetts, on his father's farm which was two miles from Coldbrook.1,2,6,3,4,5 He was the son of Alpheus Harding and Catharine Muzzy Wheeler.1,2,3,4,5 He attended the public schools in Barre and graduated from High School there. On 1 June 1859 in Warwick, Franklin County, Massachusetts, George married Ruth Melinda Delvey, daughter of Joseph Delvey and Mary Wheaton.1,7,2,8,9,5 After their marriage, he worked on his father's farm for a few years. George Harding and Ruth Melinda Delvey moved about 1864 to Brush Valley, Warwick, Franklin County, Massachusetts, where he worked in a shop.7,2 George Harding and Ruth Melinda Delvey appeared on the Census of 1880 in Warwick, Franklin County, Massachusetts.10 George removed to Orange, and there he lived the rest of his life. During his father's last illness, he and Ruth spent much of their time in Barre. He was a carpenter. George Harding was employed in 1894 in G. H. Lawrence, Orange, Franklin County, Massachusetts.11 He and Ruth Melinda Delvey lived in 1894 in 44 North Main Street, Orange, Franklin County, Massachusetts.11 George Harding died on Monday, 25 April 1910 in Orange, Franklin County, Massachusetts, at age 72 years, 4 months and 8 days from a paralytic stroke.2,5 He was buried on 29 April 1910 in Riverside Cemetery, Barre, Worcester County, Massachusetts.12,2 According to his obituary, "He was social, companionable, well-informed and well liked." George's gravestone inscription in Riverside Cemetery, Barre, Worcester County, Massachusetts, reads:
